Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad affirmed that no political solution to the crisis in Syria is possible unless it views combating terrorism as its major priority.
Speaking at a Baath Party forum in Damascus Sunday, Mikdad rejected a difference between “moderate” terrorism and “extreme” terrorism”, stating that whoever holds weapons and fights the state should be labeled a terrorist.
Mikdad declared Syria’s support for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s initiative to form a regional coalition for fighting terrorism, stating the objective of the initiative is to find solutions, not create problems.
