Syrian cellphone communication companies MTN and Syriatel announced an unprecedented rise in the price of roaming services to neighboring countries, especially those with a hostile attitude towards the Syrian government and those who have received large numbers of Syrian refugees like Turkey, Jordan and Egypt.
The price of one minute of connection has jumped from 30 SP to 1214 SP.
MTN Customer Service said that "a one minute roaming connection with Turkey now costs 1214 SP, while a connection from a Syrian line to a Turkish line costs 821 SP. A text message costs 167 SP."
The companies specified 193 SP as the roaming price in Lebanon for any Syrian line and 98 SP as a price for a text message.
