The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said yesterday that ISIS asked a retired officer from the regime's army and others from the town of al-Busaira in the eastern countryside of Deir-ez-Zor to evacuate their homes and leave the furniture. The Observatory noted that ISIS has also confiscated the home of a dissident officer, the home of a Baath party member and apartments belonging to the Nusra Front in al-Mayadeen city in the countryside of Deir-ez-Zor.
In the nearby Hassakeh, a fighter of European nationality residing in Britain was killed while fighting beside the Kurdish People's Protection Units against ISIS. The Observatory said the fighter – either British or Greek – was wounded in clashes in an area south-west of the town of Tal Hamis, which Kurdish fighters managed to seize on Friday. The area was considered a vital ISIS stronghold in Hassakeh provence.
In the south of the country, clashes between opposition fighters and regime forces, backed by Hezbollah and Iranian fighters, continued in the northwestern countryside of Daraa. The area is hotly disputed by the regime, who attempts to take control over the triangle which extends from the northwestern countryside of Daraa, to the western countryside of Damascus and the countryside of Quneitra. The Observatory said violent clashes took place near the town of Busra al-Harir and Brigade 15 in the vicinity of the city of Inkhil, where five opposition fighters were killed in clashes with Lebanese Hezbollah fighters supported by Iranian fighters and regime troops.
Iranian media channels reported the funeral of seven fighters, including an "Afghan commander", killed in the south of the country "in defense of Sayeda Zeinab shrine" located in Damascus, more than 100 kilometers from Daraa.
