Interior Minister: Syrian State Will Never Abandon Suweida

Minister of Interior Gen. Mohammad al-Shaar met with religious figures, tribal elders, and popular figures from Suweida province on Sunday, including senior Druze Sheikh al-Akel and Greek Orthodox Archbishop Saba Esper‫.

During the meeting, Shaar asserted the state is committed to protecting and defending all Syrians from terrorism, while preserving security, stability, and national unity, avowing Syria’s leadership never has and never will abandon its responsibilities towards the people of Suweida province.

The general also stressed the need to confront the exclusionist Takfiri mentality which seeks to fragment Syria, noting that Syria’s citizens and institutions remained steadfast despite the scale of war and conspiracy targeting it‫.

Shaar also stated that all Syrians must respect the rule of law and preserve public safety, warning against propaganda campaigns and malicious rumors that seek to undermine Syria’s social fabric and the stability of Suweida province‫.

Druze spiritual leader Sheikh Hekmat al-Hajri said that Suweida is an integral part of Syria and is committed to ensuring the country’s stability while confronting terrorism in all its forms‫.
