De Mistura Points to ‘Real Progress’ in Delivery of Aid

Increased pace in the delivery of humanitarian aid and maintaining the cessation of hostilities agreement could significantly benefit the political dialogue, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura told reporters on Thursday.

During a press conference in Geneva, de Mistura pointed to “real” progress in the delivery of humanitarian aid in Syria, but added the progress is still modest.

He referred to the success in humanitarian aid airdrops for the locals of Deir-ez-Zor, currently besieged by the Islamic State group, crediting Russia’s efforts for aid deliveries to needy areas.
