Syrian President Bashar Assad on Thursday issued a decree to reshuffle the Syrian cabinet under the Premiership of Wael Al-Halqi.
Assad appointed six new cabinet ministers, the official SANA news agency reported.
The President replaced the ministers of economy and external trade, industry, internal trade, higher education, tourism, and also appointed one minister without portfolio.
The reshuffle stripped Russian ally Qadri Jamil of his post as Minister of Domestic trade, but he maintains his post as Deputy Prime Minister, a position usually regarded as having little real authority.
According to the state news agency SANA, the new ministers are:
-Qadri Jamil: Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs
-Malek Ali: Minister of Higher Education
-Khodr Orfali: Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade
-Kamal Eddin Touma: Minister of Industry
-Samir Izzat Kadi Amin: Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection
-Bisher Riyad Yazigi: Minister of Tourism
-Hasseb Elias Shammas: Minister of State
