The Arab Tribal Council in Jazeera and Euphrates accused the majority-Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in eastern Syria of adopting a policy of “starvation” and exploiting the area under its control.
The council’s spokesperson Ahmad Jarba said the, “Kurdish units exploited the capabilities of the area, pushed local farmers to sell their harvest at prices that do not cover their expenses and barred local people from managing their own affairs.”
Jarba added that the “Kurdish units” adopted a policy of starving all constituents of the Jazeera and Euphrates regions, in order to drive them out of the region as they search for a life elsewhere, or to push them into taking actions they could not have foreseen. He warned against continuing these practices.
