Syrian Army Ranks 28th at International Army Games

At the 2019 International Army Games, Syria secured 23rd place out of the 39 competing countries, and secured ninth in the Tank Biathlon writes SANA.
Syrian Army Ranks 28th at International Army Games

The Syrian Arab Army ranked 9th out of 23 in the Tank Biathlon Contest and it came 28th in the general ranking of the 2019 International Army Games, which were held at the Alabino training ground near the Russian capital of Moscow with the participation of 223 teams and which wrapped up activities on Saturday. 

223 teams from 39 states from all the continents including Latin America participated in the Games that were held across 10 countries, which were Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Iran, China, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, India and Mongolia and they were watched by more than a million spectators including 50,000 at Alabino training ground near Moscow. 

Russia came in the first place while China ranked second and Kazakhstan third in the general ranking of all the contests, while the team of the Syrian Arab Army came in the 28th place according to the general rankings. 

In a statement to SANA’s reporter, while visiting the Syrian pavilion at the Friendship House in Alabino on the sidelines of the conclusion the International Army Games, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said, “We are happy that our Syrian colleagues were able to participate in this great event.”

“This participation is considered as a great achievement for our Syrian military colleagues, and we hope that this participation will further expand and become deeper in a way that will contribute to consolidating the bilateral relations,” Shoigu added. 

For his part, the Director of the Syrian Pavilion at the Friendship House, Brigadier Aktham Ahmad, presented a souvenir of traditional Syrian handicrafts to Minister Shoigu. 

In a similar interview, the Chief of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, expressed satisfaction over the participation of teams from the Syrian Arab Army at the International Army Games, affirming that this indicates that the Syrian Arab Army has restored its efficiency and become stronger and better trained, wishing success for Syria and its army.
