The Jordanian government has accused the Assad regime of creating inaction and delay over the completing of the necessary procedures to reopen the Nasib Border Crossing.
On Sunday, Russia Today quoted Jordanian Transport Minister Walid al-Masri as saying that: “The shortcomings in some logistical preparations from the Syrian side have prevented the opening of the border crossing.”
The Jordanian Minister said that meetings are still ongoing with the Assad government to prepare the infrastructure and logistical issues for the opening of the border.
For his part, the Jordanian head of the Jordanian Truck Owners, Mohamed Dawood, said: “Five thousand trucks are ready to transport goods into Syria via the only official opening.” He pointed to the importance of opening the border for the two countries’ treasuries and restoring the movement of goods between Lebanon and Jordan as well.
The Transport Ministry in the Assad government announced on Sep. 29, 2018, that the reopening of the Nasib Border Crossing between Syria and Jordan would be reopened to trucks and transit movement, which Jordan later denied.
