A Jordanian security source has revealed that 6 American planes breached Syrian airspace 18.00 Damascus time, travelling 5 kilometers inside Syrian territory before retreating quickly.
The source said the operation did not take more than one minute and was unintentional – the result of an air navigation error, given the planes turned around immediately after flying over Daraa, in the south of Syria close to the Jordanian border.
Syrian planes later flew over Daraa.
This is considered the first breach of Syrian airspace by American F16 planes hosted on Jordanian territory.
