ISIS Refuses Truce with Islamist Rebels

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) says the Nusra Front and other Islamist groups are apostate groups, rejecting a proposed truce by foreign jihadis to halt infighting.

The initiative for the ceasefire with the Nusra Front and Islamic Front was launched by Salaheddine al-Shishani, who confirmed that he met the ISIS representatives in Raqqa and offered them the truce. He said ISIS rejected the truce because “they indeed believe that Nusra and other Islamist rebel groups are apostates and infidels, therefore their request cannot be accepted.”

The mediator revealed that Nusra leader Abo Mohammed Jolani had requested the ceasefire with ISIS, in order to concentrate on fighting the Syrian regime.

Moreover, the mediator revealed that Omar al-Shishani, the ISIS representative, urged him to pledge allegiance to Abo Bakr al-Baghdadi, the ISIS Caliph, but Salaheddine refused because he had already sworn allegiance to Abo Muhammad al-Daghestani, the Emir of the Caucasus.
