Syrian opposition groups announced yesterday that Kurdish units joined the Free Syrian Army.
The statement said "as a result of the meetings that took place between the Kurdish Military Council in Hasakeh Province ([part of the] of Free Kurds Movement) and the Revolutionary Council of Kurdish Syrians, an agreement was reached to declare the union between the two parties.” [The agreement included]“The need for coordination and joint action on the ground within the ranks of the Free Syrian Army under the leadership of military councils of the General Staff of the Free Syrian Army, taking into consideration the particulars of the battle against the regime in each region.”
The statement continued: "We declare that we are now heading to a conference which will produce a united political and military leadership.” The statement was signed by the Kurdish Military Council in al-Hasakah, the Battalion of the martyr Mahmoud Wali, the Battalion of the martyr Mashaal Tammo, the Battalion of the martyr Ibrahim Hanano, the Battalion of the martyr Sulaiman Edde, head of the Kurdish Military Council in Hasakah Colonel Hassan Osso, and vice president of the Council Captain Adnan Khaled.
The statement was also signed by the Revolutionary Council of Kurdish Syrians which includes the Brigade of Saladin, the Yousuf al-Azma Brigade, al-Karama Brigade, and the Othman bin Affan Battalion in the west of Hama. Bassam Haji Mustafa, head of the Political Bureau of the Kurdish Revolutionary Council, signed on his organization’s behalf.
