The authorities in Palmyra, Homs countryside, said they confiscated a large number of archeological artefacts stolen by terrorists who had excavated them illegally and hidden them in a house.
A source in the province said that pieces, which are over 2,000 years old, are funerary art pieces, including a sculpture dating back to the first or second century AD, depicting a father and two sons.
The second piece is the bottom of a sarcophagus bearing carvings of two priests and two women, while the third piece is a funerary sculpture depicting of a family consisting of a father, mother and three children.
The artefacts also include decorative sculpture fragments and parts of helical columns.
