The head of the Movement for Justice and Construction in Syria, Anas al-Abda has raised questions over the timing of a statement by 13 rebel battalions rejecting the leadership of the Supreme Military Council.
"The timing of the statement issued by the Islamic brigades yesterday [Wednesday] was not appropriate at all, and it raises question marks about the feasibility of the statement, especially since it coincided with the visit of a high level delegation from the Syrian National Coalition to the United Nations in order to gain new friends for the Syrian cause," he said.
A group of Islamic forces issued a statement in which they said they believe "the Coalition and the putative government headed by Ahmad Touhmeh" does not represent them and that they "do not recognize it".
A member in the Political Commission of the Syrian National Coalition, Abda told All4Syria in a statement that "battalions that have signed the statement do not represent the most important Free Syrian Army battalions on the ground, as there are large brigades that did not sign this statement.".

These factions are of the strongest and most powerful Islamist opposition groups fighting the Syrian regime.
"It must be known to all movements that the nature of the future state of Syria is the choice of Syrian people through the ballot boxes and election, and no one has the right to impose guardianship on the Syrian people and declare the type of regime or the law that will govern them," Abda said.
"Of course, everyone can try to convince the people in the post-liberation stage, but and not now," he added.
