Baklanov: Using Water for Political Purposes Is Criminal and Inhumane Act

The head of the International Affairs Department at the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, Andrey Baklanov, affirmed that drinking water mustn’t be used as a weapon to achieve political purposes because such a act is criminal and inhumane.

This came in a statement to Sputnik news agency on Tuesday and in reference to the Turkish regime’s persistence in cutting off water from more than a million Syrian citizens in Hassakeh city and its vicinity, which they have been doing for more than two weeks.

Baklanov said that what is happening in Hassakeh is a source of great concern as the situation is difficult, unacceptable, and contradicts UN resolutions.

He noted that Russia will exert all possible efforts to resolve this situation.
