U.N. Accepts Syrian Invitation on Chemical Talks

The United Nations announced on Wednesday that it had accepted Syria's invitation to the head of the U.N. Investigation Team on the Use of Chemical Weapons in Syria, Ake Sellstrom and the U.N. High Representative for Disarmament, Angela Kane to visit Damascus.

Sellstrom and Kane accepted the Syrian government's invitation "to complete the consultations on the modalities of cooperation required for the proper, safe and efficient conduct of the mission" to investigate the use of chemical weapons in Syria, AFP quoted U.N. Secretary General Spokesman , Martin Nesirky, as saying.

However, Russia announced on Tuesday that it had handed the U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon proof on the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian opposition in Aleppo.

Armed terrorist groups in Syria fired a rocket carrying chemical materials in Khan al-Asal in Aleppo last march, causing the martyrdom of 25 innocent civilians and the injury of 100 others.
