ISIS Tortures, Kills Ahrar al-Sham Commander

Hussein Suleiman was killed after he was arrested in Aleppo

A commander from the Ahrar al-Sham, Hussein Suleiman (aka Abu Rayan), has been executed after he was arrested by the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) in December.

Suleiman was killed in the town of Makanah in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, the Ahrar al-Sham media center reported.

Ahrar al-Sham's media office reported that Abu Rayan along with 20 fighters from the brigade were captured by ISIS when clashes broke out between the two groups.

The reasons behind the fighting, according to Ahrar al-Sham, started after ISIS, for no apparent reason, attacked one of their checkpoints and killed 6 of their fighters.

After a prisoner exchange agreement between the two sides on Tuesday, ISIS handed over the body of Abu Rayan, who had been executed by firing squad.

Abu Rayan was a top commander of with the brigade in the border town of Tel Abiyad in Raqqa province.
