Water Minister Discusses Means to Raise Farmer Capacity

The Minister of Water Resources Kamal al-Sheikha has confirmed the need for cooperation between Syria and the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to make use of the organization’s financial and technical potentials in order to raise capacity of farmers in the country.

The minister, meeting FAO deputy resident representative in Syria, Adam Yaw, highlighted the importance of cooperation with the organization to enhance the agrarian task in all Syrian cities, particularly after damage to water and agriculture resources by armed terrorist organizations.

The minister discussed with the resident representative of Agha Khan Network in Syria, Mohammad Seifo, the situation of drinking water in the Salamiya region in Hama countryside.

Sheikha said the ministry is currently digging new wells in Salamiya to cover the increasing needs of the citizens in the region and the eastern surrounding areas.
