Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Marzieh Afkham said a solution to the crisis in Syria must be based on the Syrian people’s will and dialogue between Syrians.
Addressing a weekly press conference on Wednesday, Afkham said Iran had clarified its position towards the crisis in Syria to the U.N. Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, during his latest visit to Tehran.
She said discussions are underway to prepare and work out ways to resolve the crisis, noting that Tehran’s view, which has been repeatedly made clear, is one of several other views aimed at resolving the crisis.
