Bogdanov Visits Damascus to Discuss Syria Crisis

The Russian President’s Special Envoy for the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov visited Damascus on Wednesday to hold talks on ways to resolve the crisis in Syria.

On November 27, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Muallem announced in a press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in the Russian city, Sochi, that the Russian president stressed his country’s determination to cooperate with Syria and President Bashar al-Assad to triumph over terrorism.

Muallem’s statements were based on the outcomes of an earlier meeting he held with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Cooperation with Syria, Putin confirmed, also aims at deepening the long-standing strategic partnership between the two countries, as Muallem also noted.
