Syrian army commander assassinated by rebel group in the capital's Old City

An explosive device was detonated near a military car in the Old City of Damascus, killing Syrian regime army Brigadier Ali Darwish along with two companions on Monday.

Ahrar al-Sham Islamic movement has claimed responsibility for the attack.
