Tehran Attacks Were Attempt to Impose Political Change: Assad

Syrian president voices solidarity with Iran following deadly attacks which targeted the capital and killed 17 people

The terror attacks which targeted Iran’s capital on Wednesday were an attempt to impose political change on the country, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said.

In a phone call with his Iranian counterpart on Thursday, Assad strongly condemned the attacks, stressing Syria’s solidarity with Iran and its people.

During the call, Assad pointed out that the terrorists and their backers resorted to the attacks due to their failure in undermining Iran, adding the events were an attempt to impose political change on the country.

For his part, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani thanked Assad, stressing that the attacks will not harm the steadfastness and resilience of the Iranian people, who have become more determined to counter terrorism.
