Syria, UNDP Discuss Increasing Coordination in Humanitarian Field

Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem met with regional director of the United Nations Development Program Mourad Wahba on Thursday to discuss boosting cooperation and enhancing humanitarian programs carried out by the Syrian government.

Muallem acknowledged the Syrian government’s efforts to implement programs despite numerous obstacles, specifically the unjust unilateral sanctions imposed on Syria.

For his part, the UNDP official clarified that despite politics, his organization is seeking to increase the number of projects it backs in cooperation with the Syrian government.

Wahba expressed the UNDP’s readiness to bolster cooperation with the Syrian government to tackle the increasing living pressures facing Syrians, stressing the importance of boosting coordination and partnership between the two sides.
