Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham Tracks ISIS Cells in Idleb

Idleb province has witnessed a spike in the number of assassinations of rebel commanders writes Zaman Al Wasl

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham is tracking Islamic State sleeper cells in northern Idleb province after a series of assassinations targeted commanders of the former al-Qaeda branch in Syria.

Senior commander in Hayat Tahrir al-Sham told Zaman al-Wasl that an ISIS sleeper cell was captured in the western countryside of Idleb on Tuesday.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham says more sleeper cells in Idleb are being led by the Russians from its coastal airbase in Hmeimym.

More Daesh cells are to be eliminated very soon, following intense efforts by domestic security services, according to the official.

On Monday, the deputy commander of Jaysh al-Ahrar, Khalil Ismael Ersan, was assassinated with his son in the town of Joubas in the southern countryside of Idleb when armed men opened fire on them as they stepped out of a local mosque after the Fajr prayer.
