The Assad regime’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing has agreed with Iranian companies to build residential units in its housing projects.
The Iranian IRNA press agency said that an economic delegation had visited the Syrian capital Damascus and agreed with the Ministry to build 30,000 residential units, as part of the General Organization for Housing’s projects in Damascus, Aleppo and Homs, by means of the Iranian private sector.
The agency said that during a meeting with the Iranian Minister of Roads and Construction, Amir Amini, Syrian Minister Hussein Arnous from the Assad regime declared his readiness to fulfil the desire of the Iranian companies to work in Syria and to reduce the burdens and difficulties of starting joint work.
He said that the two sides had agreed to form a team of Iranian contractors to study work in the Syrian construction sector and enter into partnerships to participate seriously in rebuilding what had been destroyed by “terrorists,” as he put it.
The Assad government is working to facilitate and grant privileges to Iranian and Russian companies to invest in cities where the regime’s military machine has destroyed most of the infrastructure.
