Syria Demands International Action Against Coalition’s Continued Crimes

On Tuesday, warplanes of the US-led International Coalition shelled Baghouz in the Deir ez-Zor countryside claiming the lives of scores of civilians and injuring others, mostly women and children.

Following the latest attack, Syria has reiterated its demands for the Security Council to take action against the crimes and attacks carried out by the warplanes of the US-led International Coalition, and to carry out an investigation into these attacks, and to work towards preventing further attacks and end the hostile presence of America and other foreign forces in Syria.

This came in two letters from the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry addressed to the UN Secretary General and Chairman of the Security Council, regarding the most recent massacre committed by the warplanes of the US-led International Coalition against a camp for civilians in Baghouz village in the Deir ez-Zor countryside.

In the letters, the Ministry said this new crime, which left more than 70 civilians dead or injured including women and children, is part of a series of war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Coalition against the Syrian people.

The Ministry slammed the Coalition for its continuous support for terrorism and its use of terrorists and separatist militias to achieve their objectives and hostile plots against the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Syria.

“Syria demands again that the Security Council take action to prevent these crimes and attacks and shoulder its responsibility for preserving international peace and security,” the letters said.

The letters stated that the Security Council is also required to conduct an international investigation into the Coalition’s crimes in Syria, condemn them, and take immediate action to prevent their repetition, in addition to working on ending the illegitimate and hostile presence of the American troops and other foreign troops in Syria, and prevent them from implementing their schemes.

Local sources in Deir ez-Zor told SANA that at least 70 civilians were martyred or injured, mostly women and children, on the outskirts of Baghouz in airstrikes launched by warplanes of the International Coalition.

Sources indicated that the Coalition’s airstrikes targeted a camp that embraces hundreds of civilians who fled shelling by the Coalition and the Islamic State (ISIS), indicating that the number of martyrs is likely to rise due to the critical conditions of some of the injured and the difficulty of hospitalizing them due to the continued shelling.

This massacres comes just hours after warplanes of the International Coalition committed another massacre in Baghouz, which martyred 24 civilians, mostly women and children.
