Calls to Save 160 Syrians Arrested in Algeria on Terror Charges

Algerian authorities have arrested 160 Syrians, including women and children, accusing them of relations with a "terrorist" organization and that some of them are preparing to execute attacks on European countries.

The Algerian an-Nahar newspaper published a report saying that "the police managed to deconstruct an international network supporting the Islamic State. Members in the organization came from Syria and arrived in Algerian Hawari Bu Median airport, planning to depart to other governorates later".

According to the report, those members were on their way to Libya before they were arrested by the Algerian police carrying Thuraya mobile phones and GPS devices and up to a total of $125,000.

The report said that the initial investigations with the detainees confirmed their relation to an Algerian citizen "who will help them move to Libya, where some terrorist organizations are waiting for them to deliver them to France, Spain, Germany and Italy" where they will be received by some persons working under the cover of international organizations related to refugees."

The newspaper reported the "confessions" of some detainees, in which they express their willingness to join the terrorist organizations working in Libya, "while others were planning to carry out terrorist attacks on some southern European countries".
