Governor of the Damascus Countryside Alaa Ibrahim visited Al-Tal city on Saturday to inspect the condition of the town’s services after the evacuation of opposition arms and gunmen.
In a speech to locals, Ibrahim stressed that the whole of the Damascus countryside will soon be secured along with the withdrawal of terrorists.
He assured residents that electricity, water and sewerage services will soon be restored, adding that bodies will work “hand in hand” with locals to rebuild infrastructure damaged by terrorist organizations.
Police Commander of the Damascus countryside Jamal Bitar said security forces will resume restoring order to the city and protecting public and private property.
On December 2, a reconciliation agreement was implemented in Al-Tal whereby a number of militants had their legal status settled according to a presidential amnesty decree.
Other militants were allowed to leave the city after handing over their arms to local authorities.
