The air defense systems in charge of protecting the Hemeimeem base shot down a drone launched by the terrorist organizations deployed in Idleb towards the base in the Lattakia countryside.

The Russian Sputnik news agency quoted a source at the Hemeimeem base as saying, “The terrorist groups located between the countryside of Lattakia and Idleb launched this morning an armed drone that tried to approach the base, but the air defenses responsible for protecting it quickly shot it down before it reached the base’s campus.”

The source indicated that no injuries or material damage was recorded as a result of the accident and that the Hemeimeem base continues to operate normally.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on the 27th of last month that the air defense systems in charge of protecting the Hemeimeem base had shot down a drone launched by the terrorist organizations deployed in Idleb towards the base.

Over the past months, air defenses thwarted dozens of attempts by terrorist groups to attack safe areas and villages in the countryside of Lattakia and Hemeimeem base using drones carrying bombs and rocket-propelled grenades from the depth of their deployment area in Idleb and Lattakia countryside.
