President Bashar al-Assad issued on Tuesday Decree No. 126 for 2021 appointing Muhammad Issam Hazima as Governor of the Central Bank of Syria (CBS).
Hazima has acquired a remarkable financial and banking experience, that has accumulated over the past years, during which he worked as the Deputy-Governor of the Central Bank.
He headed the Experts Committee in charge of placing a set of rules and procedures to reduce the exchange rates of foreign currencies against the Syrian pound.
The exchange rate appears to be steadily improving, currently heading towards 2,500 pounds per dollar.
