Minister of Information Omran al-Zoubi said that Syria has taken its decision to fight terrorism in one hand and go to dialogue in the other, affirming that the Syrian government seeks to implement the political program to solve the crisis in the country.

 

"The Syrian people have confidence in Russia, its people and leadership.. Syria wishes to develop, boost cooperation and friendship with Russia including the stage of reconstructing Syria after coming out of the crisis," al-Zoubi said during a meeting with the Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Bogdanov.

 

He pointed out to the hostile acts against Syria coming from western, Arab and regional countries including the smuggling of weapons and terrorists through their territories to perpetrate their crimes against the Syrian people and loot the Syrian oil.

 

Bogdanov, for his part, announced his country's rejection of the political pressures practiced to change the legitimate government in Syria with another illegitimate, like giving Syria seat at the Arab League to an illegal side.

 

He said that Geneva statement, adopted on June 30th, 2012 is still the suitable base to start resolving the crisis in Syria through political, diplomatic ways.

 

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that al-Zoubi and Bogdanov exchanged viewpoints on the halt of violence as soon as possible, start a political process in Syria, based on a national dialogue between the government and opposition.
