Syria's Permanent Representative to UN, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari called on Chairman of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry (CoI) on Syria, Paulo Pinheiro to view the crisis unfolding in Syria from a wider perspective just for calling things by their names in order to tackle the roots of the problem, instead of approaching it from a one-sided perspective.
Speaking during a UN General Assembly session to discuss human rights in Syria, Jaafari said '' The Commission of Inquiry on Syria is still deliberately blowing things out of proportion when displaying its findings, also fully disregarding or downplaying core issues.''
Jaafari reiterated that the Syrian government will do everything in its power to supply the inquiry commission with all the confirmed information it has for the sake of forging a neutral and independent vision that helps the commission fulfill its commitments and duties.
He added that at the same time when the committee has stressed in its reports that a number of states had offered media and financial support to the armed terrorist groups as well as a number of operations have been done to smuggle weapon through borders, the committee ignored naming the regimes of those stases which sponsor the smuggling of weapons, particularly the Turkish regime who opened its borders to enter the weapon and mercenaries into Syria.
"It was better for the inquiry committee to mention in its reports the acts of burglary on the Syrian national resources by a number of states in the EU which openly buy the Syrian stolen oil from the armed terrorist groups," Syria's envoy said.
He added that all now know that the European decision which allows importing the petroleum from those terrorist groups was issued to offer the needed financing to the terrorists to sell the European weapons and rent the mercenary terrorists.
"Based on those facts, Syria has always expressed its rejection of the context of the reports and conclusions issued by the inquiry committee because they were politicized, non-objective and non-professional, as these reports were part of the problem, not part of the solution," al-Jaafari said.
Jaafari pointed out that the world followed with great interest testimony of member of the International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, Carla del Ponte, in which she confirmed the use of Sarin gas by the armed terrorist groups in Khan al-Assal in Aleppo. ''Hours later, pressure built on the Commission's chairperson which pushed him to issue a statement challenging del Ponte's findings.''
''That said, how could we trust the Committee's work and professionalism?'' al-Jaafari asked.
Jaafari stressed that the Syrian government has repeatedly provided the UN with reports and documents explaining the grave losses on the Syrian people because of the unilateral measures which affected the sectors of industry, agriculture, health and banks.
Meanwhile, Russian permanent envoy to the UN Vitaly Churkin announced that Russia hopes the report of the international inquiry committee would be objective, adding that it is unacceptable to ignore the atrocities of the fighters of armed opposition in Syria.
"The UN Committee report should aim at helping convene the international conference on Syria in Geneva," Churkin said at the UN General Assembly session.
Thus, he adds, the report has to be balanced to the utmost possible terms, it has to objectively reflect all violations of the international human law and human rights by all sides, including the opposition.
