Syrian intelligence forces on Sunday arrested Yara Fares, the wife of the member in the National Coordination Commission (NCC) Maher Tahhan, who was detained over a year ago.
According to the NCC press office, Fares was arrested at a checkpoint in Sehnaya in the early evening as she returned from work.
The NCC condemned the arrest on its social networking page, describing the incident as “an unfair and arbitrary act by the regime”, also demanding the release of Fares, her husband, along with fellow NCC member, Abdulaziz al-Khair, and all Syrian detainees.
The Syrian regime has not acknowledged the detention of NCC members Khair and Tahan and Iyas Ayash, who have been incarcerated for more than one year.
Intelligence forces also arrested the secretary of the NCC, Rajaa Nasser earlier last month.
