Transport Minister Mahmoud Said has denied as untrue and baseless reports broadcast on Thursday on Al-Arabiya television that the Bassel Assad airport in Latakia had closed.
The Minister said in a statement to SANA that the reports from Al-Arabiya, which is partner in shedding the Syrian blood, are untrue, adding the airport is working at full capacity and passenger movement is normal.
The Latakia Governor Ahmad Sheikh Abdulkader refuted other rumors regarding the departure of families in Latakia's northern countryside to Latakia city.
Abdulkader told SANA in a statement that the news is untrue, aimed at instigating a state of intimidation among the citizens and destabilizing the situation in those villages.
He confirmed that none of those villages has left home, where life remains as normal, local and official departments do their daily works and offer services to all citizens.
The Governor added the Syrian people know the aim of such rumors which will not affect their struggle against terrorism.
