Ministry of Tourism Launches Cleanliness Campaign

The Ministry of Tourism has launched a campaign to ensure the commitment of restaurants and other facilities to adhere to health guidelines.

Minister of Tourism Besher Yaziji requested the Department of Quality and Tourism Services, along with other tourism departments, to take whatever steps necessary to ensure the health and safety of citizens who attend tourism facilities, stressing the necessity of tourism in all provinces. Facilities which don’t commit to the required standards will be closed.

The minister also called on all departments operating in provinces to inspect the quality of food provided in tourism facilities, the way it is stored in fridges, in addition to the required hygiene standards of workers. Workers will be required to obtain health cards proving they are free from communicable and infectious diseases.

The ministry has warned that it will close facilities whose kitchens don’t meet required conditions, noting the necessity for citizens to report any violation of health conditions.
