Crimea PM: Only Syrians Can Determine the Future of Their Country

Prime minister of the breakaway republic weighs in on the Syrian political process on the sidelines of the International Media Forum in Yalta

Crimean Prime Minister Sergey Aksyonov said on Sunday that the Syrian people are the only ones who can determine the future of their country.

In an interview with SANA's Moscow correspondent on the sidelines of the International Media Forum in Yalta, Aksyonov added that all people have the right to choose their political leaderships and that no party should interfere in the internal affairs of independent sovereign states.

He highlighted Russia’s continued efforts to help citizens of other countries defend their homeland and protect their sovereignty and dignity.

The prime minister added that those who waged the war on Syria are representatives of those U.S. companies which attempt to control other states and loot their natural resources, such as oil and gas.

He also condemned the U.S.-led coalition airstrikes against Syrian military positions near the Jordanian border.
