Syria and Iraq have reviewed means to enhance trade and investment, activate the joint Syrian-Iraqi committee, hold a forum for businessmen and cooperate in the reconstruction phase.

During their meeting on Monday, Prime Minister Imad Khamis and the Iraqi Ambassador to Syria, Saad Mohammed Ridha discussed the continuing coordination to reopen the border crossings between Syria and Iraq.

Khamis affirmed the importance of creating more opportunities for cooperation in economic fields and making use of the many advantages enjoyed by both countries in this regard.

He hailed the great sacrifices of the Syrian and Iraqi people, to preserve the sovereignty and independence of their countries and to combat all forms of terrorism.

The Premier touched upon the importance of the broad participation of Iraqi businessmen and economic activities at the upcoming session of the Damascus International Fair, considering it an opportunity to expand trade exchange and present Iraqi products.

In turn, Ambassador Ridha said that it is now an appropriate time to push forward the economic relations between Syria and Iraq in various fields, activate the role of the private sector in industrial, commercial and investment domains and to cooperate in the reconstruction phase.
