Syria, Russia to Enhance Cooperation to Confront Terrorism and Sanctions

Russia and Syria have stressed their determination to enhance cooperation and joint action in all domains, mainly fighting terrorism and confronting the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States and Europe. 

A meeting, held in Moscow on Tuesday, between Syria’s Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam and Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov, who is the head of the Russian side on the Syrian-Russian Committee for Economic, Trade and Technical Scientific Cooperation, discussed means of consolidating economic, trade and financial cooperation as well as the results of implementing the decisions of the joint committee, in the presence of the Russian President’s Special Representative for Middle East and North Africa Affairs, Michael Bogdanov, and a number of concerned Russian officials.

The two sides reiterated the need to deepen the cooperation between Syria and Russia in the service of the common interests of the two countries’ peoples.

The meeting was attended by Hazem Qarfoul, Governor of the Central Bank of Syria and the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Russia, Riad Haddad.
