Woman and Three Children Die in a Camp in Hassakeh

Three children and a woman died in the al-Hol camp for displaced Syrians in the countryside of Hassakeh province in northeastern Syria.

According to local sources, a fire broke out because of a fuel leak from a heater in a tent, which resulted in the death of baby Zakaria Ahmed and a toddler, Zakariya Ahmad. Both of the children died from burns. They both were born in the camp, which is controlled by the militia of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Additionally, another child died on Sunday because of the cold and lack of health care in the camp, which has become known as The Camp of Death.

A displaced woman from Deir ez-Zor died in another fire, that was similar to the earlier fire that killed two children.

The camp’s residents suffer from difficult humanitarian conditions due to medical negligence and severe cold, which has already caused the deaths of dozens of children, while the six people who burnt to death was due to the burning of tents and a lack of healthcare and services.
