Mikdad: Terrorists, in Cooperation With Israel, Attacked Palestinian Camps in Syria

UNRWA has faced difficulties recently after a number of states stopped providing funding reports SANA

Deputy Foreign Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, discussed with the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Pierre Krahenbuhl, the situation of the Palestinian refugees in Syria and the efforts exerted by the Syrian government to provide them with the requirements needed for a dignified life.

In this regard, Krahenbuhl appreciated the services and capabilities offered by the Syrian government to the Palestinian refugees in previous years.

“The difficulties that UNRWA encountered after a number of states stopped financing the Agency will affect the services provided to Palestinian refugees in the region,” Krahenbuhl added.

UNRWA is looking for alternatives in order to ensure that it has what it required to provide services to the Palestinians across the world.

For his part, Mikdad held the US and Israel responsible for the suffering of the Palestinian people and depriving them of their basic rights.

Mikdad pointed out that Syria has condemned the US Administration’s suspension of its commitments to the UNRWA budget in the interest of Israel.

He went on to say that terrorist groups, in cooperation with Israel, attacked the Palestinian camps in Syria and destroyed their facilities.

“The Syrian State will give special attention to overcoming the repercussions of the crisis in Syria whether in regards to the Syrians or to the Palestinians,” Mikdad affirmed.
