Iran Keen to Participate in Syrian Economic Projects

Tehran shows eagerness to invest in Syria’s reconstruction amid signs the six-year war might be winding down

Prime Minister Imad Khamis met on Tuesday with the head of the Iranian-Syrian Economic Relations Committee Saeed Ohadi to discuss enhancing economic ties between the two countries.

The two officials also reviewed Iran's role in Syria’s public and private sectors and the necessary steps to enhance trade between the two countries, looking to the role businesses could play in this respect.

During the meeting, Khamis expressed his appreciation for Iran’s support in various fields and welcomed the economic presence of Iran at the recent Damascus International Fair.

For his part, Ohadi affirmed Iran’s keenness to participate in various economic activities in Syria, noting the wide participation of various countries in the exhibition, which forms a basic step in the recovery of the Syrian economy and the expansion of international cooperation.
