People’s Assembly Meet to Review Aleppo’s Public Services

Representatives call for a restructuring of the Ministry of Agriculture, urging the need to compensate farmers affected by bad weather conditions and terrorism

The People’s Assembly held a session on Monday to discuss the condition of public services in the province of Aleppo.

The assembly, chaired by Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, called for the development of emergency solutions to alleviate the suffering of the citizens in Aleppo, noting armed terrorist organizations are taking “vindictive and oppressive” actions against the locals by seizing water sources and power plants in the province.

Members stressed that the executive authority must step up and fulfill its duties regarding the crisis in Aleppo.

Assembly representatives also called for a restructuring of the Ministry of Agriculture, urging the need to provide compensation to farmers affected by terrorism and weather factors.

Minister of Agriculture Ahmad al-Qadri responded to members, saying that at least 60 percent the province’s agricultural projects have been completed despite the crisis in Syria, adding that the number is “acceptable, but is not up to the level of the Ministry’s ambition”.
