Tehran Holds Syrian-Iranian Economic Talks

Officials meet in the Iranian capital to discuss increased economic and trade cooperation

Syria and Iran discussed the implementation of a new economic, commercial and technical agreement during a meeting between the Secretary-General of the Syrian cabinet Taysir al-Zoubi and the Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayebnia in Tehran on Monday.

The talks focused on Iranian loans to, and investment in, the Syrian oil, raw materials, food and medicine sectors.

The officials also discussed the cooperation agreement on maritime transport between Lattakia, Tartous on the one hand and Iranian ports on the other to facilitate the flow of the Iranian goods into Syria.

Zoubi stressed the importance of further collaboration in various domains and economic sectors in order to benefit from the two countries vast potential.

The Syrian official lauded the support provided by Iran’s government and people against the economic and military siege targeting the livelihood of the Syrian people.
