Suqour al-Sham Commander Loses Hand in Car Bomb

Senior commander of rebel group escapes assassination attempt in Idleb

A senior commander of the Suqour al-Sham brigade has escaped an assassination attempt when a militant group planted an explosive device in his car in the countryside of Idleb, rebel news feeds reported.

Bassam al-Ayyashi, a Syrian-French jihadist dubbed ‘Sheikh al-Mujahideen’, lost his hand in the assassination attempt in the rebel-held village of Arab Said, General Commander of Suqour al-Sham Abu Issa al-Sheikh said.

Ayyashi was accused of recruiting foreign jihadists, especially from France and Belgium.

'Sheikh al-Mujahideen' lost his son in a 2013 battle against Assad's forces in Idleb.
